Why We Created Connected Parents – Our New Evening Birth Preparation Course in Ramsey
Preparing for birth and early parenthood can feel overwhelming. There’s so much information out there, yet finding the right support—especially something local, accessible, and community-driven—can be a challenge. That’s why we created Connected Parents, a new evening antenatal course in Ramsey designed to bring expectant parents together in a warm and supportive environment.
The Need for Something Different
Traditional antenatal classes often focus heavily on medical information, sometimes missing the bigger picture: birth is not just a clinical event; it’s an emotional, transformative, and deeply personal experience. Many expectant parents told us they wanted more than just facts—they wanted space to explore their options, build confidence, and connect with others going through the same journey.
We also noticed that there are not many local Birth Prep courses (not any actually) but that the ones that are within travelling distance were either costly, limited in availability, or didn’t cater to both parents as equals in the birth and parenting experience. Many birth partners told us they felt left out, unsure of their role, and wanted to feel more prepared. Connected Parents was created to address these gaps.
A Warm and Welcoming Venue
We’re lucky to be hosting Connected Parents in a venue that already holds a special place in the local parenting community. This is the same space where we host Maddie’s Miracle breastfeeding support group each week, offering a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere for new parents. The venue itself is light, airy, and feels like a home from home, with its comfortable sofas, coffee tables, and accessible features making it a cosy yet practical space for learning and connecting. We want you to feel at ease from the moment you walk through the door, whether you’re here for a class, a chat, or a cuppa.
What Makes Connected Parents Special?
1. A Blend of Information, Creativity & Community
Our sessions are designed to be engaging, interactive, and far from a PowerPoint lecture! We use creative activities to explore birth, feeding, and early parenting, helping you absorb the information in a way that feels natural and personal.
2. A Flexible, Evening Format
We know that weekday daytime classes aren’t accessible for everyone. Many parents-to-be work full-time or have other commitments during the day, making it difficult to attend antenatal sessions. Our evening classes allow more flexibility, making it easier for both parents to be involved.
3. A Focus on Choice and Confidence
We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all approaches. Every birth is unique, and our goal is to help you understand your options so you can make informed choices that feel right for you. We cover labour, birth, feeding, and early parenting, giving you the tools to navigate this next chapter with confidence.
4. A Supportive Network Beyond Birth
One of the biggest challenges new parents face is feeling alone. That’s why Connected Parents isn’t just a course—it’s a community. We aim to create a space where parents can connect, share experiences, and continue supporting each other long after the course ends.
Who Is This Course For?
Connected Parents is for anyone expecting a baby, whether it’s your first or your fourth. It’s for pregnant women and people and their birth partners who want practical, evidence-based information delivered in a friendly, relaxed setting. Whether you’re feeling excited, nervous, or a bit of both, this course is designed to help you feel prepared, reassured, and connected.
